Peeping Tom
I just had a total revelation, suddenly finding myself exposed to the brilliant 1960 Powell film Peeping Tom. Characteristically I came to the film not through Powell and Pressburger (who by the way was Hungarian), but through Karlheinz Bohm, who was in Fassbinder’s highly perverse Martha. I liked him a lot and happened to see that he was in Peeping Tom. Before the opening titles had finished, I was hooked. We also watched the documentary on the Criterion DVD which was about the screenwriter, Leo Marks, a fascinating character. Have to see all the Powell and Pressburger now.
Other news: we cooked cactus leaves last night, along with 3 kinds of ceviche.
